The Escondido Community Child Development Center (ECCDC) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on May 15, 2017. ECCDC has been serving the Escondido community since 1974, providing quality child care and early childhood education to low income families. ECCDC was founded by former Escondido Mayor Lorraine Boyce and Escondido resident Ruth Clothier who petitioned the State of California to provide Title V funding in order to provide the opportunity for parents of young children to work or go to school while their children receive care.
Since its inception, ECCDC has served more than 30,000 children and families through a continuum of education programs that support each individual’s ability to achieve social, emotional and physical health, in order to develop healthy social relationships with the family, school and community.
ECCDC provides a comprehensive child development program which includes a full range of education, supervision, health, and social services designed to assist children and their families to maximize their full learning potential.
Over the past five years, ECCDC has served over one million nutritious meals and completed over 2500 health screenings. Each site also grows fresh fruits and vegetables to further encourage children’s healthy eating habits.
Moving forward, the Escondido Community Child Development Center is fully committed to the Live Well San Diego vision, and will continue its successful programs that contribute towards a healthy, safe, and thriving community.
