Employers

Prediabetes is a serious health problem that adversely affects San Diego’s economy and workforce. In 2017, the total cost of diagnosed diabetes was $327 billion, up 26% over a five-year period. Potentially, this could translate to increased healthcare costs, decreased productivity, and lower employee retention for your business.

Employers can be proactive by providing healthcare coverage for the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) lifestyle change program. By offering and incentivizing employees to participate in the DPP lifestyle change program, employers may help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes along with the associated conditions that can directly impact the employer’s bottom line.
