Jimbo’s…Naturally! has proudly supported the San Diego community since 1984. Jim “Jimbo” Someck, Owner of Jimbo’s…Naturally!, puts a strong emphasis not only on organic and natural foods, but on education, and awareness. Over the last year, Jimbo’s…Naturally! participated in over 200 San Diego community events. From supplying organic bananas and oranges for a 5K walk/run to sampling organic salads at various employee health fairs, to providing over 3,000 organic apples to various schools’ Red Ribbon Weeks throughout the County, a taste of organic is always with us!
Each month, they offer free educational lectures on various health topics presented by local experts and industry leaders. They also offer free monthly cooking classes presented by their talented staff. They offer free store tours for all ages, which is a fun and informative way to introduce healthy food options.
The Jimbo’s…Naturally! Wooden Nickel Program supports both the environment and San Diego community. When customers shop and reuse their shopping bags, they receive a wooden nickel which can be dropped into one of four charity boxes representing: animal, children, environment and social. A local non‐profit is selected for three months to represent one of the four categories, and receives a check for nickels deposited. This program is a great way to support non‐profits, raise awareness, and support the environment! Since the program began in 1999, their customers have reused over 4.2 million bags and just over $210,000 have gone back to the San Diego community!
Jimbo’s…Naturally! generously donates throughout the year to local non‐profits with food donations and gift cards. They hold annual events generating a substantial amount of money to further programs and education among selected non‐profits. Two bi‐annual sales include the Anniversary Sale in October and the Customer Appreciation Sale in April. Respectively, Champion of Choices received $15,639 and delivered an anti‐bullying presentation to over 1,000 middle school kids in San Diego; ECOLIFE received $15,922 which will supply numerous local schools with an Aquaponics Program. In addition, they raised $5,247 for MOM (More On the Menu), which delivers fresh produce to homebound seniors; and $10,889 to Promises2Kids which supports San Diego’s foster youth. In addition, each August, they hold a summer food drive specifically for the kids backpack program with Feeding America San Diego. The last drive generated 363 backpacks filled with nutritionally dense organic foods along with $6,509.
