Cajon Valley Union School District (CVUSD) held their World of Work Week (#CVWOWWeek) on November 13th through the 16th, where they used the technology provided by World of Work to give students insight into unique and fulfilling careers. During this week, seven San Diego companies participated in Meet a Pro chats with provided students a way to go on a virtual field trip to the businesses. On day three of #CVWOWWeek, thousands of CVUSD students virtually visited two local businesses, Azúcar Bakery and Cafe le Groom, giving insight into two very different ways to be involved in the service industry.
Azúcar, a Cuban style patissiere, was built on the dreams and hard work of owner Vivian Hernandez-Jackson and has given her the opportunity to make a career out of her passions. Students watching the Meet a Pro with Vivian were able to see the beautiful bakery and what a day in the life of a baker consists of. Being a baker can be demanding, but Vivian says you never have to work another day if you build a career out of what you love to do and put your heart into it.
Pet stylists at Cafe le Groom, Diane and Molly, then took CVUSD students on a tour of the pet spa, where furry loved ones are pampered. Diane, owner of Cafe le Groom, loves her job and coming to work because she is able to be surrounded by tons of adorable pets and her friends where they all come together to get the job done while also having a ton of fun. She encourages anyone who has a love for animals and wants to have a good time with them to pursue a rewarding job in grooming!
Cajon Valley Union School District has been partnering with the World of Work program for the past two school years, giving over 27,000 students the chance to view the Meet a Pro live chats and virtually tour amazing careers. The World of Work program also gives CVUSD students purpose in their everyday classroom instruction, connecting what they are learning to their futures.
