El Cajon Schools Celebrate Walk to School Day

Andrea Nasser, County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency

Over 400 students and parents walked to Lexington Elementary in the Cajon Valley Union School District on October 10, 2018 in celebration of International Walk to School Day which promotes physical activity, health and safety. The annual event is put on by the Safe Routes to School program of Rady Children’s Hospital in partnership with the City of El Cajon, the El Cajon Police Department and Cajon Valley Union School District. Safe Routes to School programs aim to increase the number of children who walk and bike to school by funding infrastructure projects that improve safety and supporting events that promote walking and bicycling.
