CDC reports that flu vaccination prevents tens of thousands of hospitalizations each year. In 2019-2020, flu vaccinations prevented an estimated 105,000 flu-related hospitalizations. The annual flu shot is recommended for everyone 6 months and older. It is especially important for people who are vulnerable to serious health complications from the flu. This includes pregnant women, children, seniors, and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and immune system disorders.
