According to the most recent federal data, there are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. They range in age from infants to 21 years old (in some states). The average age of a child in foster care is 8 years old, and there are slightly more boys than girls. 

At Walden Family Services, they work to ensure that every child has a loving home and the ability to recognize their greatest potential toward becoming a self-sufficient and productive member of their community.  Walden holds accreditations from a number of regional and national organizations, including the California Alliance of Child and Family Services, CARF and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s All Children—All Families initiative.

Children who enter foster care have experienced prolonged stress and trauma, which can delay their development. Quality foster programs help kids heal and develop the knowledge, skills and relationships to become contributing member of their family, school and community.
