Community Benefit Grants: Call for Letter of Inquiry Applications Due April 25

Kaiser Permanente this week put out the official call for Letter of Inquiry Applications for Community Benefit grants, referring to small grants (averaging $15,000 to $32,000) to help non-profit and public entities undertake innovative community health projects. Because strategic focus areas include Cardiovascular Disease, Mental/Behavioral Health, Obesity and Type 2 Diabete, these grants could help leverage efforts to advance regional community health improvement plans as part of the Live Well San Diego initiative. Community partners, including those participating on regional leadership teams, are encouraged to apply.

Inquiries must be submitted on or before 2:00 pm on April 25, 2014 for a grant period of September 2014 through September 2015.

Visit the website for more information.

Scroll down on the webpage to the section on "Medical Center Local Grantmaking."  This is where all of the information is contained.  Please review it closely.  At the bottom of the page is a link to start a new application.  Some things to keep in mind:

  • Only one application will be accepted per organization per cycle. There will only be one cycle of grantmaking in 2014.
  • Strategic funding priority areas include: Cardiovascular Disease, Mental/Behavioral Health, Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.  On the website, you can click on these areas and learn more about them.
  • Please review this webpage for more information on eligibility, funding ranges, etc.
  • The right column of this webpage includes downloads from the Community Benefit Workshop held on March 11, 2014 (Powerpoint, FAQs and useful weblinks).
