Lakeside Center Hosts Successful Intergenerational Family Dance

The Lakeside Community Center hosted their first Harvest Hoedown Intergenerational Family Dance on November 21, 2015. The residents of Lakeside and the surrounding communities were invited to participate in a variety of activities beginning with a guessing game, followed by a handprint banner activity and an opportunity drawing.

As the guests entered the dance, they took their best guess on the amount of pumpkin seeds in a jar for a chance to win one of many prizes. To create the Harvest Hoedown handprint banner, attendees were asked to paint their hands and press them to the banner to fashion a memorable keepsake of the event. Guests were treated to sparkling cider, finger foods, and yummy desserts while prizes were awarded to lucky raffle winners throughout the night.  Raffle prizes included Julian Pie gift cards, goodies from Trader Joe's, a pair of studio headphones, and backpack filled with school essentials.

To take a break from the Macarena or the cha-cha slide, attendees were able to play a game of Cornhole with family and friends or get their picture taken at a festive photo booth using a variety of eclectic props. About 50 people ranging in age from 1-75 attended the festivities which brought all generations together to dance, enjoy each other’s company, and create long-lasting memories.
