North Inland Live Well Center and Toys for Tots Bringing Joy to the Children of San Diego

Since its inception in 1947, “Toys for Tots” has been the Marine Corps’ premier community action program and one of the nation’s flagship charitable endeavors. The “Toys for Tots” message of hope for the future has motivated young people to grow into civic-minded, conscientious and patriotic citizens.  For over ten years, volunteers from the North Inland Live Well Center have collaborated with the Marines in support of their “Toys for Tots” program.

Team members from the North Inland Live Well Center volunteer at the “Toys for Tots” San Diego Headquarters.  They help coordinate the toy distribution by sending out notices to over 1,200 eligible families.  Volunteers receive, categorize and bag the toys and help distribute the donations to local children on December 10, 2016.

“Toys for Tots” has a positive impact on communities, businesses large and small, the Marine Corps and the nation. Locally, Toys for Tots works with about 300 non-profit organizations throughout the San Diego County.  They accept new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 12 years old and all donations raised in San Diego, stay in San Diego.

According to Sergeant Major Jason Cain and “Toys for Tots” Coordinator, San Diego County distributed toys, books and stocking stuffers to 54,156 registered children in 2015, allowing them to enjoy the happiest holiday season.

Everyone from every walk of life can join the “Toys for Tots” team and be an active participant in bringing joy to our children. Please contact your local Family Resource Center to learn where you can donate your time.  You will be helping children, your community and your nation.
