Love Your Heart at Chula Vista Civic Center Library

To celebrate this year’s Valentine's Day, South Region Public Health Nurses and National University Nursing Students are providing free blood pressure screenings until 4:00 p.m. at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library as a part of the county-wide Love Your Heart event. Though only a couple of hours into the event, a fair number of families, seniors and book enthusiasts have had their blood pressures checked.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the number of individuals interested in learning about their health status and their eagerness to learn more about how to have healthy hearts,” says Emily, a nursing student at National University.

Jeri Aring was among the number of individuals who got their blood pressure checked at the library.

“My family was the primary motivation for me to love my heart today. I want to be a healthy role model for my children, and taking care of your health is one of the best ways to share love with your family,” says Aring.

After her screening, Aring has pledged to drink more fluids and continue having a healthy heart!
