Start the New Year off right! In collaboration with the City of Chula
Vista, the Health and Human Services Agency South Region would like to
invite you to their first resource event: Chula
Vista’s Let’s Connect Expo. The free event is open to the
public and will be held on Saturday, January 30th from
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Chula Vista High School on 820 4th Ave, Chula
Vista, CA 91911. The purpose of the event is to support families by
connecting them with useful resources and enrichment opportunities
that can meet their needs and inspire them to strive for something
greater in the New Year.
The event will be divided into three zones – Health, Safety and Thriving:
- Start the New Year by knowing your numbers in the
Health zone. This zone will have health screenings including
blood pressure and BMI. If you have New Year’s resolutions that
focus on personal health goals, get practical advice to improve your
chances of success by learning how to prepare delicious, healthy
meals and snacks and find out where there are physical activity
resources available in your community.
- The Safety
zone is designed to help your family be prepared for emergencies.
Learn how to create a disaster plan and an emergency kit to help
sustain your family in case of an emergency. This year we can expect
lots of rain from El Niño so come and learn how to stay informed of
potential flooding throughout the county and hear from experts on
what they are doing to keep residents safe.
- The
Thriving zone is designed to help you and your family prosper
in the New Year throughout different stages of life. This zone will
have resources from a child looking for homework assistance to an
adult looking for a job. There will also be financial aid resources
and tips on how to maximize your current income.
