First 5 San Diego’s Executive Director Kim Gallo and Assistant Executive Director Gloria Corral-Terrazas participated in Read Across America Day by reading a book to the students at the Child Development Associates’ The Parks Child Development Center in National City. All students at the Child Development Center received a book to encourage reading at home.

Read Across America Day was established in 1998 by the National Education Association as a celebration of reading. Reading events are held throughout America on March 2^nd each year in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. This year marked the 112^th birthday of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America’s 19^th annual celebration.

First 5 San Diego’s goal is that all children ages 0 to 5 are healthy, are loved and nurtured, and enter school as active learners. First 5 San Diego encourages parents and caretakers to talk, read, and sing throughout the day with their kids in an effort to stimulate early literacy and language development.
