Financial stability is important for everyone. Having sufficient resources to afford basic living costs has a positive influence on the overall financial health and well-being of the community. Financial stability, however, is not a reality for some people facing personal barriers and unexpected challenges. Live Well San Diego partners play an important role in providing individuals and families with the help they need to get back on their feet and learn the skills necessary to become self-sufficient.
People throughout San Diego County are benefiting from San Diego Financial Literacy Center’s (SDFLC) literacy programs that educate and empower individuals and families to make sound financial decisions and develop positive personal finance habits for life. The Smart With Money Financial Opportunity Clinics presented by the Foundation for Financial Planning offer a unique collaborative opportunity for non-profits, government entities, and community oriented business professionals to provide clear, concise, custom, and culturally competent financial education in a confidential setting. Participants receive advice from credentialed volunteer professionals on personal finance topics relevant of all ages looking to improve their financial health.
One of SDFLC’s programs, called Boost for our Heroes, was established in an effort to help the military community become one of San Diego’s most financially literate populations. The program provides a variety of workshops, outreach efforts, and one-on-one consultations to help active and veteran military personnel become financially stable.
