YMCA of San Diego County Brings Summer Programs to a Community Near You

With hundreds of programs to choose from, the YMCA of San Diego County (Y) is the place to be this summer.

A recent Live Well San Diego recognized partner, the Y prides itself on offering programs and activities that cater to individuals and families ranging from infants to seniors. The Y focuses on three key areas to strengthen families and the community: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  With 16 health and wellness facilities county-wide, hundreds of thousands of people receive the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve a healthy lifestyle at the Y each year.

“Because the Y is for everyone, we bring together children, adults and families of all abilities like no other organization can,” says Loni Lewis, YMCA of San Diego County spokesperson.  “As a result, San Diego County residents are receiving the tools needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body.”

This summer will bring new and exciting programs to the Y for residents to participate in.

“Our facilities will be offering ‘Freebie Friday’ where the Y will be free and open to the community every Friday in July,” says Lewis. “It will be a great opportunity to spend quality time working out alongside friends and family this summer.”

Other program highlights include:

  • Men’s Health Week: June 15-24. This week long initiative, which culminates on Father’s Day, hopes to empower every man to make healthier choices and to get critical health screenings that can save lives. The Y will be open to everyone in the community for free, and anyone who joins will receive a free personal coaching session.
  • Summer Camps: Camp is in full-swing at all Ys countywide, and at 3 resident camps – Camp Marston, Raintree Ranch and Camp Surf.

Summer is a great time to focus on health, wellness and learning, and the Y is here to help you achieve your goals year-round.

“We want to be a place where everyone in San Diego County can work on living a healthy life,” says Lewis.
