With kids out of school for the summer, chances are they may encounter more animals than during the school year.  Each year, dogs bite more than 4 million people and half of those bites are to children under age 13.  The good news is that most dog bites can be prevented!

The County of San Diego Department of Animal Services offers a bite prevention course that not only teaches kids ways to behave safely and responsibly around dogs but also how to protect themselves against the risk of a dog bite.  The goal is to reduce negative interactions between dogs and kids.  This fun, 30 minute Be A Tree presentation is FREE to any group such community, service or social groups, the library, churches, etc.  Animal Services will visit anyone within its service areas which include unincorporated San Diego and the cities of San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Santee.  For those who wish to visit any of the three animal care facilities, a bonus to the presentation is a guided, behind the scenes tour!
