Consumer Advocates for RCFE Reform (CARR), with funding from the County of San Diego Aging & Independence Service (AIS), has developed a rating system for county assisted living (AL) providers and a website where AL providers are listed.  The website is designed to allow residents to easily find and compare residnetial care facilities meeting their quality-of-care and price point needs.

To participate, an AL provider must volunteer to be rated using the Choose Well algorithm, and in exchange, the provider is given a free Facility Profile Page to describe what makes her facility unique, and to list the services and amenities of the facility.  

To date, about 20% of county-assisted facilities are listed on the website, and the program continues to grow. 

This program is the only one of its kind in the United States.
