In March 2015, the Independent Living Association (ILA) kicked off their “ILA Member Incentives Program.”  This program provides discounted services from local San Diego businesses to members of the ILA.

ILA membership demonstrates commitment to providing quality housing for adults with mental illness and other disabling health conditions. ILA membership designates Independent Livings in San Diego that meet ILA Quality Standards; members of the ILA also agree to participate in continuing education courses and annual Peer Review Home Visits. Currently, ILA member homes provide 375 beds to individuals who benefit from the structure and fellowship of a shared living environment.

In recognition of ILA Members providing an important resource to the San Diego community, San Diego businesses showed their support by providing free or discounted opportunities especially for these homes. Current ILA Member incentives include free art and cooking classes for residents, as well as discounts on technology and pest control services.

One highlight of the ILA’s Member Incentive Program has been the free Jimbo’s…Naturally! cooking courses. Staff from Jimbo’s…Naturally! provide cooking demonstrations either in the Independent Living home or at one of the Jimbo’s…Naturally! San Diego locations. The recipes Jimbo’s…Naturally! teach showcase nutritious organic options for ILA residents to utilize when shopping and cooking, and free samples of the dishes are provided to class participants!

The ILA is proud of the work being done in ILA Member homes, and looks forward to continuing to recognize ILA Members as this program continues to grow.
