Edward Becerra founded Education begins at Home in May 2015. Edward and Genevieve Wunder have led this cause over the last year. They are striving to improve the literacy level of the youth of North County San Diego by providing free books at various city and school events. During this year, they provided over 10,000 books in 33 events to families from Valley Center to Carlsbad. Events included a National Night Out celebration at the Crown Heights Resource Center; an NAACP Juneteenth Event in Oceanside; a Dia de Los Muertos Celebration in Vista; the Multi-Cultural Family Festival in Escondido; 2 CAYS (Community Alliance for Youth Success) events in Oceanside; a parent event at Mission Middle School, Escondido; 3 events at the Mira Costa College's Community Learning Center; a Nichols Elementary Literacy Night event in Oceanside; the Valley Center Middle School Bilingual/Bicultural Family Reunion/Graduation event; MANA Hermanitas Graduation in Carlsbad; Boys & Girls Club Celebration in Oceanside; and Fil-Am Cultural Celebration in Oceanside.

They partnered with numerous organizations including NAACP; city of Oceanside; Tierra Caliente Academy of Arts; North County Health Services; Vista Community Clinic; and Lifeline. Their free book giveaways focus on reading and ultimately, on the Education of our youth. When discussing their free book giveaway project, they emphasize the importance reading has on the student’s success in school and the impact school has later in life with jobs success. Their logo, "Read, Imagine and Achieve," highlights success in school and keeps youth safe by allowing them to focus on education and not on gang or drug involvement. In addition to participating at all of these events, they take their words about the importance of school to numerous meetings in the Community including the Route 78 Rotary Group in San Marcos, the Blue Wave Kiwanis group in Oceanside, the San Dieguito Alliance group in Encinitas, the Abriendo Puertas group in Vista.
