Sullivan Solar Power recently completed the installation of a donated 10 KW solar power system to The San Diego Center for Children, expected to save the Center over $170,000.
Each year, the Center spends thousands of dollars on electricity costs that could be reallocated toward programming to help the Center achieve its mission. And Sullivan has afforded the Center a new way of being cost-efficient for its energy usage.
“We are very grateful to Sullivan Solar Power for their support. This initiative is truly transformational for the San Diego Center for Children not only because of the significant financial contribution we are receiving to support our programs, but because Sullivan Solar Power is also helping us become a more sustainable organization by installing, at no cost to the Center, equipment to benefit from solar energy,” said Moisés Barón, San Diego Center for Children President & CEO.
Earlier this year, Sullivan Solar Power kicked off the partnership with a donation of a 10,000-watt solar system to support the nonprofit in its mission to protect the joy of childhood, prevent emotional suffering and incite change in San Diego. This partnership will not only reduce fossil fuel consumption and improve air quality, but also support the health and well-being of children and families across the region.
The Center and Sullivan have a shared mission to make the future brighter for San Diego. Sullivan is making a substantial donation and providing a free solar system to offset some of the Center’s existing costs.
“The San Diego Center for Children is celebrating 130 years of caring for children who are struggling with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges, and strengthening families. Because of support from Sullivan, we can provide the effective level of treatment, care and education our next generation deserves, to more families in need in our community,” said Barón.
Sullivan has contributed $500 to the Center for every new customer, raising over $110,000 to help empower children and families every day to live joyful and healthy lives.
In addition to the financial savings and participating in a clean energy initiative, everyone in San Diego can take part in this mission by going solar. Until the end of the year, Sullivan will continue to contribute $500 to the Center for every new customer.
