Retired Employees of San Diego County Health Fair & Picnic

Last month, the Retired Employees of San Diego County (RESDC) held the annual RESDC Health Fair and Picnic that attracted over 350 attendees. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to visit vendor booths offering information about benefits offered to RESDC members, available resources in their community and free blood pressure screenings.

Each year, RESDC is committed to engaging more vendors to host resource booths. This year’s event was no exception as vendors offered attendees information on healthcare and other supplemental benefits. Vendors included:

  • Pacific Group Agencies
  • The San Diego County Employee Retirement Association
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Scripps Healthcare
  • Sharp Rees-Stealy
  • Liberty Mutual

The County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services hosted a booth along with a variety of local community based providers and nonprofit organizations, including:

  • Oasis Healthy Habits
  • San Diego County Credit Union
  • San Diego Humane Society
  • San Diego Alzheimer’s Association

The picnic is always a big hit with attendees who enjoyed a menu of fresh fruit, coleslaw, roast beef, and baked beans. After the last person was served, the remaining food was donated to Sunday Night Ministry at the Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church, which provides meals to the homeless. The event then closed with a raffle and address from RESDC Board of Directors President Susan Mallett.

The RESDC is a non-profit organization representing all San Diego County retirees, ensuring their current benefits are protected and obtaining new benefits when justified.
