The County of San Diego has been working on the Thriving
initiative for the last year, the third component of Live Well San
Diego. The San Diego Association
of Governments (SANDAG), which has partnered with the County on
Live Well San Diego efforts for the past several years, will
continue to be an important partner in the Thriving
initiative. Over the last year and a half, as Thriving was
developed, the community identified the need for better information to
lead decision making on a regional level. Through continued
partnership with SANDAG and many other stakeholders, our two
organizations will discuss with residents how to make the region
safer, healthier and more thriving.
Transportation and
built environment is something that impacts all residents in the
region. In order to plan for transportation needs into the future -
which is a major charge for SANDAG as the region’s Metropolitan
Planning Organization, comprised of the 18 cities and County
unincorporated areas - agencies need to be able to assess where we are
in our communities. It is important to know how the current and
future actions and plans for public and private spaces align with the
needs of our communities. The County is excited to work with SANDAG
and all of the regional public, non-profit and private partners to
advance the vision of Thriving.
