Hundreds gathered together to celebrate the opening of the new North Inland Live Well Center in Escondido. The event brought together dignitaries, community leaders, stakeholders and partners to learn about the importance of the center as a hub for collaboration and service delivery. The celebratory event kicked off with a ceremony that included speakers and a ribbon cutting to officially welcome attendees to the new facility. Refreshments were served in the bright, open atrium where guests could mingle and enjoy delicious appetizers from caterer and recognized Live Well San Diego partner, Café Merlot. Guests were also welcome to participate in a self-guided tour of the facility and explore all of the areas that the new site had to offer.
The center serves as a single stop for health and social services for residents in the region. Design elements that support the County’s Live Well San Diego vision in the Strategic Approach area of Building Better Service Delivery Systems include natural lighting, customer-friendly lobbies, community meeting rooms and a collaboration center of smaller meeting spaces, all of which are geared toward supporting a healthy, safe and thriving community.
The center also houses the County of San Diego’s first Military and Veterans Resource Center, which features 12 community-based organizations dedicated to assisting military veterans and their dependents and survivors.
“This is the year of the veteran. I fulfilled the promise here and built for North County veterans and their families a facility I think they can be proud of and can serve them well,” said County of San Diego Chairman Bill Horn.
Located on Mission Avenue, the center also has meeting space for non-profit community partners and a fitness room for employees.
