The San Diego County Library (SDCL) and the Registrar of Voters are teaming up this November to offer residents a simple way to vote by providing more options to drop-off mail ballots and offering polling sites at library branches throughout San Diego County. Through this partnership, SDCL can bring services to customers at places that they already frequent.
“We are fortunate in California to get to vote by mail. Libraries are hubs for civic engagement and now you’ve got one more reason to visit. Stop by the library to get a new book or movie and drop off your ballot,” said Acting Library Director, Susan Moore.
SDCL had thirteen branches participate as ballot drop off sites with 2,531 ballots cast for the primary elections and they look forward to having branches participate this November in the general election.
“The number of voters who opt to vote by mail continues to rise, and this program helps with the timely return of mail ballots, decreases the high volume of voters dropping off mail ballots at polling places on Election Day and expands our services,” said Registrar of Voters, Michael Vu.
