The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (Foundation) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on July 15, 2017 at their 2017 Discovery Gala. The Foundation works to inspire people through education and outreach to preserve the Agua Hedionda Lagoon as an accessible and healthy watershed. They serve as a community resource in environmental education, initiatives, volunteerism, restoration and maintenance of the Lagoon and surrounding habitats. The Foundation also operates the Discovery Center, an extraordinaire collection of hands-on exhibits and activities to promote environmental stewardship, education on the flora, fauna and history of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon.
The Foundation’s educational programs and related activities are designed to help conserve and protect natural open space and promote a balance of better awareness and appreciation of nature and its importance to the health and well-being of the community and the planet through recreation and accessibility. Through the Foundation’s Environmental Stewardship Program, North County school children receive hands-on classes that stress responsible interaction with the natural surroundings and creates awareness of the environmental impact of day-to-day human activities.
Moving forward, The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation is fully committed to the Live Well San Diego vision, and will continue its successful programs that contribute towards a healthy, safe, and thriving community.
