The Blue Heart Foundation joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on August 5th, 2017. The Blue Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing personal and professional development opportunities to underserved youth ages 13-19 in the greater San Diego County community. The foundation promotes positive choices in youth by offering academic support, team building, SAT preparation, social development, health instruction and community service projects.
Through empowerment and education, the Blue Heart Foundation strives to give underserved youth the tools to succeed and excel in today’s academic and social environment. As a commitment to their participants, the Blue Heart Foundation has established mentoring programs and formal partnerships with universities to ensure that youth succeed academically and are able to obtain college degrees. All of the programs of the Blue Heart Foundation are based on nine core competencies that fall within three categories: abilities, applications, and character. These nine competencies ensure that participants become engaged, successful, and productive members of their community. The nine core competencies are leadership, teamwork, vision, service, learning, culture, advocacy, equity, and ethics.
The Blue Heart Foundation reinforces positive experiences, behaviors, and academic success to ensure underserved youth grow to be leaders in their community. The Blue Heart Foundation will continue to advance their mission, and by doing so, they have committed to advance the Live Well San Diego vision of creating a region that is building better health, living safely, and thriving.
