The Chicano Federation of San Diego County joined Live Well San Diego as a Recognized Partner on May 8, 2018. The Chicano Federation of San Diego County was established in 1969 by a group of civil rights advocates, and for the first 20 years, successfully worked as an advocate for Latinos and promoting voter registration and civic participation. By the 1990's,the Federation expanded its mission to create empowering opportunities for people in San Diego County, and serves more than 8,000 people a year through child development, education, nutrition, health and housing programs.
The Chicano Federation of San Diego County supports Live Well San Diego through their commitment to improve the safety and success of children and their families. The organization works in collaboration with range of public, private, tribal and community partners to support practices and policies that increase the safety and success of children and strengthen the resilience of families and ultimately reduce the need for foster care by 50 percent by the year 2020.
