The City of Encinitas joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on January 25, 2014. Encinitas is a city dedicated to enhancing the health, welfare and safety of its residents. Encinitas is committed to creating safe, walkable communities through its Encinitas Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Scorecard, a resource developed in 2011 to help community and school-based groups shape programs, share strategies and take advantage of funding opportunities. The program also promotes bicycle and pedestrian safety by mapping out the specific priority safe routes. Let’s Move, Encinitas!, a community engagement partnership with WalkSanDiego, specifically addresses the development of a citywide pedestrian travel and Safe Routes to School Plan.
The City of Encinitas also supports affordable and accessible venues that serve as an outlet for physical activities and healthy lifestyles choices for people of all ages. Weekly farmers markets boast access to fresh and local fruits and vegetables. Beautiful parks, open spaces, beaches, trails, recreation facilities, and year-round enrichment programs ensure opportunities for life-long fitness and health. The City’s wide array of activities, coupled with its picturesque backdrop, are alluring to all who live or visit this coastal mecca of physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.
Encinitas is dedicated to being a healthy, safe and thriving city and plans to continue collaborating with the County of San Diego and the Live Well San Diego partners in and around Encinitas.
