County of San Diego Filipino-American Employees' Association (CSDFEA)

The County of San Diego Filipino-American Employees’ Association (CSDFEA), an Employee Resource Group, joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 25, 2018. Since its inception in 1989, CSDFEA is committed to contributing to a diverse and thriving workforce at all levels of the County by providing relevant and useful resources for employees, e.g., trainings for various Microsoft Office applications and, promotional test preparation workshops, etc.; while partnering with the County and community-based organizations to promote shared interests and achieve common goals that have a collective impact, e.g., participating in the annual WeAllCount and Get Out The Vote events;  coordinating hikes with County Parks & Recreation;  collaborating with various County Departments and community partners at the annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration, and much more.

In alignment with the County’s Diversity & Inclusion efforts, CSDFEA raises awareness of Filipino-American culture among County employees and the local community through events such as Embracing the World through Literature, Film, & Dialogue which provides a forum to learn, discuss, and appreciate culture from around the globe; Filipino American History Month which is designed to bring County employees and the local community together with group workouts, hikes, school supply drives, movie screenings, and social gatherings; and, hosting the annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration to share the beautiful culture of the Philippines through song, dance, food, and hospitality.

Additionally, CSDFEA prepares its members as well as its officers and board of directors for advancement and leadership roles within the County by providing Professional Development opportunities, which include skill set trainings, promotional test preparation workshops, leadership summits, networking activities, and, showcasing achievements of members via monthly newsletters, mentioning at meetings and events, and on social media.  And, through its annual, competitive, Larry Itliong Scholarship Program, CSDFEA supports the academic endeavors of local Filipino-American students by awarding scholarships up to $2,500 to assist with school expenses.  

By setting an example of sharing knowledge and resources to broaden collective impact, and, implementing innovative programs and practices for sustainable community change, CSDFEA is committed to advancing the Live Well San Diego vision.
