The Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership (DEEP) is a 501(c)(3) collaborative of four dozen community leaders and organizations who are committed to improving educational outcomes for children attending public schools in a subset of neighborhoods in southeastern San Diego commonly referred to as “the Diamond Community.”   DEEP and its partners seek to build a continuum of educational support for children and their families.

DEEP's theory of action has three priorities:

PREPARING FOR KINDERGARTEN: By ensuring that children ages 0-5 have enriching early learning and healthy development experiences;

READING BY THIRD GRADE: By ensuring strong in-school literacy teaching and learning in grades K-3; and

LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: By ensuring that children have extended learning opportunities after school and during school breaks which promote reading acceleration and enrichment, and reduce summer learning loss.
