Interfaith Community Services joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on January 28, 2015. Interfaith, a nonprofit social service organization, was founded in 1979 by diverse faith communities to address the needs of North County’s homeless and low-income community members.
Interfaith offers comprehensive programs throughout North San Diego County, from the coastal City of Oceanside to inland communities south and east of the organization’s Escondido headquarters. With more than 300 member faith centers and more than 130 dedicated staff, Interfaith empowers 19,000 unique individuals each year to begin a pathway to independence and self-sufficiency. Interfaith provides an array of programs and services to empower vulnerable residents to live healthy and thriving lives. Interfaith’s comprehensive programs include: Nutrition, Supportive Services, Housing and Shelter, Employment, and Behavioral Health and Recovery. These integrated programs provide wrap-around support to improve community wellness by increasing access to medical benefits and providing behavioral health assessments and screenings.
Last year, 71% of homeless veterans served by Interfaith’s Recuperative Care Program successfully overcame homelessness and recovered from hospitals stays as a result of the organization’s integrated counseling, nursing, supportive housing and intensive case management services. Similarly, Interfaith improved the nutritional security of 10,085 vulnerable North County residents through the provision of essential emergency food supplies over the past year.
Interfaith became a Live Well San Diego partner because of their commitment to sharing best practices and continuing to partner with other Live Well San Diego partners. Interfaith represents a model organization for providing behavioral health services, case managed social services, housing programs, and nutritional support as part of the County of San Diego’s Live Well San Diego initiative.
