Established in 1990 as a volunteer response to the AIDS crisis, Mama's Kitchen has served the San Diego community for 28 years and has delivered more than 8 million meals to our neighbors in need.
Mama’s Kitchen helps critically ill San Diego County residents maintain their health, preserve their dignity and avoid hunger by providing free, medically-tailored, home-delivered meals, a food pantry, and ongoing nutrition education and support. Meal and nutrition services are a high-impact, low-cost intervention which helps reduce food insecurity and malnutrition, facilitates improved health outcomes, and lowers healthcare costs for residents (and their children) who are vulnerable to hunger due to the debilitating effects of HIV, cancer, diabetes or other critical illness.
