Pro Kids - The First Tee of San Diego

Pro Kids | The First Tee of San Diego joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on August 1, 2018. Pro Kids has been in the community for almost 25 years, challenging youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills, and values through education and the game of golf. Since 1994 over 20,000 kids have walked the course of opportunity that set them on the path to healthy, successful futures.

Pro Kids | The First Tee of San Diego was founded on the belief that “golf is the hook; education is the payoff”. We offer welcoming, accessible facilities in the heart of City Heights and Oceanside, year-round, 6 days a week. Through a unique set of programs that combine sport, study, and service, we provide youth grades 2 – 12 with equitable access to opportunities for growth, with support and scholarship service for program alumni.

At Pro Kids this year:

• Of 850 kids served, over 62% improved one level or more in golf
• 100% of High School Seniors who completed high school graduation or the GED in 2018 have a post-secondary plan
• 43 students earned $134,500 in scholarships through the Pro Kids Scholarship program
• 70% of members qualified for a fee waiver year-round
• 71% of kids improved one letter grade or maintained a B average in math and literacy
• 252 members joined the Pro Kids program across two sites
• 27 new volunteers joined the Pro Kids family
