Project New Village (PNV) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 25, 2014. PNV became a Live Well San Diego partner by collaborating with organizations, individuals, and the County of San Diego to promote personal, community and communal wellness in Southeastern San Diego. One of its signature initiatives is The People’s Produce Project (PPP) which aims to use food to re-energize and re-connect people to their neighborhoods, explore opportunities to address food security, and honor our legacy of environmental stewardship in Southeastern San Diego. With these goals in mind, the PPP launched the Mount Hope Community Garden and the People’s Produce Project Farmer’s Market, the only farmers market in Southeastern San Diego. Both of these initiatives help increase access to healthy food options for residents living in a community often described as a “food swamp” and thus making an impact in supporting residents to live healthier lives.
