Rady Children's Hospital

Rady Children’s Hospital joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on September 12, 2016. As a Live Well San Diego partner, Rady Children’s Hospital will continue to create healthier San Diego communities by promoting positive, healthy choices for its employees and the patients and families they serve.

Rady Children’s Hospital is well known for its outstanding pediatric healthcare and the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. They promote physical activity for their patients, families and employees, support positive choices with initiatives such as the “Rethink Your Drink” initiative and pursue policy and environmental change by maintaining a no-smoking policy on its campus. Rady Children’s Hospital also supports local Safe Routes to School programs and leads the San Diego Safe Kids Coalition which focuses on injury prevention.  

Rady Children’s Hospital will continue to support the goals of Live Well San Diego by:

• Encouraging physical activity through events such as the annual 5K Run/Walk and expanding their Safe Routes to School program by making sure that children have a safe path to walk to and from school
• Maintaining a Rethink Your Drink campaign to encourage employees, patients and their families to drink fewer sugary beverages thereby reducing obesity
• Maintaining the Hospital's no-smoking policy
• Continuing to offer employees who need support assistance through their Employee Assistance Program
• Continuing to lead the San Diego Safe Kids Coalition which focuses on injury prevention
• Continuing to offer multiple opportunities for high school students to learn about health care careers and participate in several different types of internships at the Hospital
