The San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 20, 2017. Founded in 2005, the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by former firefighters and dedicated community leaders to help provide the unmet needs of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The mission of the foundation is to provide enhanced equipment, training, technology, and community education resources so that the first responders of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are better equipped to protect the citizens, property, and environment of San Diego and the surrounding region.
The San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation’s commitment to educating the public is evident through their many public outreach campaigns. Disaster and emergency preparedness resources are always available on their website, and the foundation also hosts a 5K & Kids Run that features a fire safety expo. To ensure a thriving region, the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, in partnership with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, hosts a Girls Empowerment Camp. This camp aims to educate teens ages 14-18 on public safety preparedness, while offering a clear career pathway for those interested in pursuing a career in public safety. Supporting the Live Well San Diego vision is embedded within the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, and they will continue to contribute to a region that is healthy, safe, and thriving.
