The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation (SDHDF) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on September 8th, 2018. SDHDF was established in 1996 and since that time has dedicated itself to the equality and equity of the LGBTQ community in San Diego by funding programs and projects that promote equal treatment, tolerance, wellness, well-being, and above all else, human dignity. SDHDF’s mission is to improve the quality of life within San Diego’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities by promoting responsible philanthropy to enact positive social change.
As a catalyst and convener of philanthropy, San Diego Human Dignity Foundation’s goals are to assist donors to become responsible philanthropists and build assets for their chosen charitable purposes and for improving the quality of life within San Diego’s LGBTQ community. We encourage individual donors to see their philanthropic activities as a critical part of a vibrant and caring community.
SDHDF is committed to achieving equality in health care and wellness of all LGBTQ people. The full scope of health issues that affect our community includes breast and cervical cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, mental health, substance abuse, depression, and access to care for transgender persons. Our work directs donors to make the strongest impact in improving the health and quality of life in our community. As a steward of the San Diego LGBTQ community we support and promote the health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ community. SDHDF has initiatives that focus on Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Women’s Health, Transgender Health and Wellness and the LGBTQ Aging population. Our HIV Funding Collaborative (HFC) grants funds each year to community based organizations (CBO’s) in San Diego that support and provide services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The Live Well San Diego goals of ‘better health, safe living and thriving communities’ align with SDHDF goals.
In collaborating with Live Well San Diego and Live Well San Diego Partners, SDHDF will continue to engage the LGBTQ community and provide support for community leader and members to live healthy, safe and impactful lives.
