The Shine Project Foundation joined Live Well San Diego as a Recognized Partner on May 27, 2017. The Shine Project Foundation works to bridge the gap between families with children with special needs and local communities by partnering with businesses and organizations to provide special enrichment events and opportunities to help all children with special needs SHINE. The Shine Project Foundation aims to incorporate the values of building better health, living safely and thriving by helping families with special needs children flourish in the North County Coastal San Diego communities.
Foundation signature events help to connect families with local resources, spread awareness, and promote healthy, active and creative lives for all children with special needs. Events include Shine Beach Fun Day, Shine Arts Showcase and Dance, and Shine Field Day and Family Picnic. These events are free to special needs families and made possible with community support, donations, sponsorships, and volunteers.
At events like the Shine Field Day and Family Picnic, families participate in field day games, complete with face painting and animal balloons, and are treated to a healthy food potluck provided by Shine and the families that attend. During the event, the Shine Project Foundation shares community resource information about adaptive swimming, therapeutic ceramics, and other specialized local resources.
At the Shine Beach Fun Day, the Shine Project Foundation provides a special day at the beach and in the ocean for children with special needs. Families participate in free surf lessons from experienced surf instructors along with games and sensory activities on the beach. All of this while engaging with peers and community volunteers and enjoying a healthy snack and lunch. The Shine Beach Fun Day Event provide access to the ocean and beach to children with special needs and their families to ensure a safe, fun, relaxing, and memorable day.
The Shine Project Foundation is committed to the advancement of the Live Well San Diego vision by continuing to bridge the gap between families with children with special needs and local communities and to provide special enrichment events and opportunities to help all children with special needs SHINE.
