Urban Collaborative Project

Urban Collaborative Project (UCP) became a Live Well San Diego recognized partner on Monday, August 10, 2015.  As a Live Well San Diego recognized partner they will continue their work to empower community residents to become more healthy, safe, and thriving.

The Urban Collaborative Project is a grassroots non-profit organization that shares the values and vision for creating a healthy, safe and thriving community in Southeastern San Diego.  UCP plays an important role as a catalyst for change by bringing residents, volunteers, civic groups, community organizations and public agencies together to develop service projects for Safety, Civil Civic Engagement, Community Health and Wellness, Neighborhood Enhancement, Arts and Culture, Youth, and Community Outreach.

The Urban Collaborative Project’s accomplishments:

• effectively worked with Southeastern San Diego’s largest grocery store to improve quality of healthy food and overall improvements;
• converted numerous vacant lots to become safer formal trails and gardens;
• provided neighborhood groups with numerous capacity building tools;
• conducted numerous outreach and placemaking events to bring the community together and keep them informed of issues that impact their neighborhoods

Urban Collaborative Project has educated, empowered and energized community residents through the Resident Leadership Academy to create a wide array of community improvement projects for lasting change in their neighborhoods.

Urban Collaborative Project has effectively brought together residents, neighborhoods and town councils, faith-based groups, law enforcement, engineering, public works, community organizations, and County agencies to address walkability, bicycle safety, graffiti reporting, and urban development.

The County of San Diego is committed to recognizing and honoring those organizations that are dedicated to the best ideals of public service and the Urban Collaborative Project is one such worthy organization.

With Urban Collaborative Project’s adoption of Live Well San Diego, they will continue to embody Live Well San Diego into the future to ensure that residents and communities not only in Southeastern San Diego, but around the County are living healthier, safer, and more thriving lives.
