Vallecitos School District (VSD) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on December 11, 2018. VSD recognizes the connection between health and learning and provides an array of programs that support health and wellness for their students, staff, parents, and community. To promote good nutrition for their students and staff, VSD Nutrition Services Department provides foods and beverages that meet or exceed state federal nutrition standards.In partnership with the Neighborhood Distribution Program, the district provides nutritious food for families in need.
In collaboration with Vista Community Clinic, the district provides education to the community on available services and programs. Additionally, the district collaborates with Fallbrook Smiles Project to offer an oral health clinic for students during the school day. VSD, along with Mental Health Systems and the Drug Enforcement Agency, promote programs that focus on safety and alcohol and drug prevention in addition to their Red Ribbon Week.
To further encourage employee wellness, the district hosts a free annual health fair that includes no cost services such as body fat analysis, blood pressure screenings, free flu shots, and cholesterol tests. Moving forward, VSD is committed to continuing its successful programs that support students and families as well as continuing to collaborate with other Live Well San Diego partners to contribute towards a healthy, safe, and thriving community.
