A Reason To Survive (ARTS) became a Live Well San Diego Recognized Partner on September 29, 2018. ARTS was founded in 2001 with a vision engage youth and young adults to realize their full potential through the transformative power of creativity and the arts. ARTS firmly believes that creativity is a powerful tool that can transform the lives of young people and set them up for success. ARTS has a mission to ignite the power of creativity in youth, inspiring them to overcome obstacles and providing them with the skills needed to become compassionate catalysts for positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world.
ARTS offers free after-school arts education in four artistic disciplines (visual, media, music, and maker) to youth and young adults ages 11-24. ARTS student services include mental and behavioral health, leadership development, family services, and college and career readiness. Additionally, ARTS connects young people to meaningful opportunities in the regional creative economy, while also elevating levels civic engagement.
Moving forward, ARTS is committed to advancing the Live Well San Diego vision into the future as a role model for creativity to support a healthy, safe and thriving community.
