Bastyr University joined Live Well San Diego as a Recognized Partner on April 16, 2018. Founded in 1978 near Seattle, Washington, Bastyr University has grown to become a leading academic center for advancing knowledge in the natural arts and sciences by integrating education, research and clinical services. The University offers 20 degree and certificate programs in the fields of naturopathic medicine, acupuncture & oriental medicine, and whole-food nutrition.
The University’s second campus, Bastyr University California, opened in San Diego, California in fall 2012. The campus includes a teaching clinic, Bastyr University Clinic, offering naturopathic medical care to all in the community. Through a partnership with the nonprofit charter school, Excellence and Justice Elementary Academy, and Alternative Healing Networks in University Heights, naturopathic clinicians from Bastyr University California offer free naturopathic medical care to underserved regions of San Diego.
Bastyr University is also committed to supporting both student and staff wellbeing through their campus environment. The University offers a tobacco-free, safety-focused campus that provides access to whole foods, exercise, and health care services. Moving forward, Bastyr University is committed to continuing its efforts that contribute to a healthy, safe, and thriving community, and looks forward to continuing to find ways to align their work with the Live Well San Diego vision.
