Poway OnStage joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on August 23, 2018. Founded in 1990, Poway OnStage, also known as Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, is dedicated to entertaining, educating, and enriching the community through powerful, live performances and arts programming for students. Poway OnStage offers two dynamic programs. The first is its Annual Professional Performance Season that presents nationally and internationally-known artists from the worlds of music, dance, comedy, drama and more. Over 8,700 audience members attend these productions at the 800-seat Poway Center for the Performing Arts each year.
The second is its Arts in Education Initiative, founded in 1999, in collaboration with the Poway Unified School District. This program serves 5,000+ K-12 students, including those in Title 1 schools. The Arts in Education Initiative is a four-part program provided free of charge to participants: Introduction to Instruments; week-long Musical Theater Camp and in-school workshops; Master Classes with Professional Performing Artists; and Discounted Youth Tickets. These activities and resources help broaden students’ knowledge of the performing arts and enhance their academic, social, and intellectual growth. Poway OnStage’s mission to entertain, educate, and enrich the community through art is important for helping our students and communities to grow, connect, and enjoy a higher quality of life.
