Vista Hill Foundation joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on November 26, 2018. Vista Hill Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to helping people of all ages, from communities large and small, both within and outside of San Diego, who are confronting the challenges of mental illness, substance use disorder or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Vista Hill’s mission is “To enhance and improve the quality of life for families and individuals of all ages by providing an array of mental / behavioral health, educational and social services in a fiscally responsible manner.”
The Vista Hill Psychiatric Foundation, as it was originally known, was established in 1957. Vista Hill Hospital was opened as San Diego County’s first private, fully accredited, free-standing psychiatric hospital. For several decades that followed, Vista Hill expanded into a full continuum of acute and sub-acute private psychiatric services in San Diego and other markets as well as group homes, public sector services, partial day treatment and a specialty behavioral health HMO.
Vista Hill is now a dynamic social service organization. While the times have changed, the unwavering dedication to a mission to serve people dealing with a whole host of behavioral health conditions is evident in everything they do. Programs range from early intervention and preventive work with children before they develop mental health issues, to youth immersed in substance use disorder to long-term special education and training for young people and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Vista Hill has been committed to the well-being of San Diegans for over 60 years. The foundation of Vista Hll is to help people live healthier, happier lives. This coincides with the tenants of the Live Well Initiative. Vista Hill is publicly making the commitment to join San Diego County in helping our employees and communities we serve live healthier, safer, and fuller lives.
