On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, Chula Vista Community Collaborative
(CVCC) was officially welcomed as a Live Well San Diego
partner. The designation honored CVCC for their dedication to the
principles and mission of Live Well San Diego.
CVCC continues to work towards improving self-sufficiency,
homelessness, access to health and social service and advocacy through
a network of Family Resource Centers and their Promotoras programs.
CVCC has partnered with the County’s Live Well San Diego South
Region Leadership Team on several key community efforts, specifically
the Healthy Eating, Active Communities grant, Safe Routes to Schools
grant, and Healthy Works grant. They also built a network of five
Family Resource Centers located on Chula Vista Elementary School
District school and Sweetwater Union High School campuses, launched
an extensive Promotoras program known as Promotoras Active for
Community, and host workshops called “Es Dificil Ser Mujer” – Its
Difficult Being a Woman for Latinas in the community. These workshops
address depression and mental health and specifically targets
Latinas. CVCC partners with the San Diego Prevention Research Center
on the Familias Sanas Y Activas Program, where physical activity
classes are offered at specific community sites within Chula
Vista.
CVCC is committed to continuing to advance Live
