The California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on December 5, 2015. This 12-acre non-profit cultural hub located adjacent to Grape Day Park in Escondido houses a 1,500-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theater, a contemporary art museum, art and dance studios, a 9,000 square foot exhibition space and a full-service conference center. Throughout the year, the Center hosts a variety of entertaining shows, free performances, museum exhibitions, educational classes, and hands-on workshops that aim to bring people together to discover, create, and celebrate both the visual and performing arts.
The Center is committed to furthering arts entertainment and arts education in the community. The Center’s Performing Arts Series presents music, dance, and theater performances that appeal to a widely diverse population. In addition, the Center offers rich, culturally diverse productions from community theater groups, dance companies, and regional agencies.
Throughout the year, the Center provides over 20 free annual events and concerts and brings the community together for cultural celebrations and hands on activities. Additionally, the Center’s education program provides access to arts programming for at least 14,000 area students, from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
The Center is currently developing a health and wellness policy for its staff and encourages team participation in community initiatives and events. Ongoing campus renovations, including new signage and inviting outdoor community spaces, will continue to encourage and facilitate healthy and safe activities and will enhance the existing blooming orange trees, granite sculptures, and park.
The Center looks forward to a bright future with a roster of performances and events that will inspire, educate, entertain, and engage the local community and the many visitors who flock to the region each year to enjoy and partake in the arts.
As a Live Well San Diego partner the Center is committed to continuing to change people’s lives through the power of art by sustaining and expanding programs that provide cultural enrichment for residents of North County and beyond. By providing a site where young audiences can listen and learn, employees can grow and be healthy, and the community as a whole can come together for cultural celebrations and hands on activities, the Center embodies a space where residents can thrive.
