The City of Solana Beach joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on December 9, 2015. The City of Solana Beach has served as a leader within San Diego County being the first to develop and approve several innovative policies that support a healthy, safe and thriving region. From being the first city in the county to ban smoking on public beaches to the first to ban single-use plastic bags from grocery stores, restaurants and retailers, the City of Solana Beach is committed to the health and well-being of its citizens and community.
Most recently, the City of Solana Beach approved a Comprehensive Active Transportation Strategy ensuring that a safe, walkable community supported by ongoing pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements is a top priority. The City of Solana Beach also works closely with the San Dieguito Alliance for Drug Free Youth to prevent and reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs among its youth. This commitment is evident as they routinely rank at the top in the American Lung Association’s report on tobacco control policies in the County.
Furthermore, the City of Solana Beach ensures access for all residents by providing the Dial-A-Ride service offering affordable transportation to low-income residents who are unable to operate a motor vehicle and/or use public transportation due to their physical limitations from advanced age or disability.
The City of Solana Beach is committed to Live Well San Diego and plans to collaborate and share information with the County of San Diego in support of the Live Well San Diego vision of a healthy, safe and thriving region.
