San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 23, 2015. SANDAG is a public agency that serves as the forum for regional decision-making and is comprised of the 18 cities and county government within San Diego County. SANDAG builds consensus; makes strategic plans; obtains and allocates resources; plans, engineers, and builds public transportation, and provides information on a broad range of topics pertinent to the region's quality of life.
As one agency, SANDAG is able to respond to most federal and state mandates that apply to regions, and to most locally-generated mandates that have to be taken care of regionally.

In regional planning, SANDAG evaluates land use and transportation investments and policy to support improved public health outcomes. SANDAG supports active transportation through complete streets policy implementation, the Transnet Active Transportation Grant program, iCommute mini grant program that promotes biking and walking, iCommute bike education programs, Bike Month and a Go by Bike marketing campaign.
As a strong advocate for the health and safety of its employees, SANDAG encourages its staff to participate in carious health promotion initiatives, such as transportation demand management incentive program, Bike Month, Wednesday Walk program, Summer Salad Soiree Employee Fundraiser and more.
Through its programs and grants, SANDAG is committed to the advancement of the Live Well San Diego vision for the benefit of all 3.2 million residents in the region.
