San Diego City College (SDCC) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on November 7, 2013. SDCC became the first higher education institution to receive a Live Well San Diego designation for its commitment to supporting the health and wellness of its student body. SDCC adopted its “Step Up to Live Well” campaign as one of the signature activities for its Centennial Celebration in 2014, and officially launched the campaign during its 7th Annual Fitness Awareness Week during November 11-16, 2013. The campaign includes a one-mile walking path, a fitness map, healthy menu options, and nutrition education seminars. SDCC has been promoting fitness among its student body for the past seven years through activities and workshops during its Annual Fitness Awareness Week. Going forward, the Live Well City College Committee has proposed the promotion of healthy menu options through the development of signage and nutrition presentations in order to create an environment that promotes health through nutrition.
